Intensive 2/Week 1 Wrap Up

Yesterday we wrapped up week 1 of K’s second intensive therapy. He did amazing all week. He still struggled during his 3rd hour, the fatigue was real. But he still worked hard and did all his exercises without too much fuss.

We all noticed he required a lot more “cuddles” and “breaks,” but the work got done. This kid never ceases to amaze me. For those of you that haven’t been to NAPA let me tell you, there are a lot of tears. These kids are pushed to their limits and beyond (safely obviously). But with that comes a lot of tears. It’s not unusual to hear kids crying for literally hours on end during intensives.

I know that sounds brutal but it’s honestly part of the process for a lot of kids. But K has never been a cryer during therapy and for that I am so blessed. He may get wild, and silly and stall and run away from his therapists, but crying is very rare for him.

Sorry for the little tangent there, but it was my long winded way of saying K is amazing and I am in constant awe of how hard he can work and his grit and determination.

We have been doing a ton of core and glute work this week and all his therapists have noticed a significant improvement already. Weights have been upped, and assistance in performing moves has been decreased. He has been trying out Canadian crutches this week instead of using his walker and he has been doing amazing.

Now we try and get him to rest up and get ready for week 2.
