Today was our big travel day. We woke up bright and early at quarter to 6 to catch our 8 am flight to Boston. I was super anxious these past couple days because I didn’t know how I was going to juggle everything myself.
Let’s run down everything we took: 1 duffle bag of all our medical supplies, 1 large rolling suitcase with mine and K’s clothes for 3 weeks, 1 bag with K’s walker, 1 bag for the car seat, and two backpacks with our personal items. Oh and I had K in his wheelchair to watch out for.
We arrived at the air port and the nice curb side service man helped me with all my bags. Check in went quick and that meant I had no more bags to tend to just K and I could breath a little easier now. I hate checking our car seats because I know they get banged around, but I didn’t have the free hands and it made my life so much easier checking all our bags. Security and the flight were a breeze.
Well…except the landing. Winds were high today in Boston so our little plane was getting thrown around on the decent. I can get motion sickness almost anywhere, even watching shows on TV, so I was doing my best to keep myself together. But everyone made it out and no sickness bags were used today.
We picked up all our bags and headed to catch the bus to the rental car station. Shout out here to my husband. He managed to set it up (with straps and clips) so that I could safely stack all 4 bags together, using the large rolling duffle as the base so I could handle K’s wheelchair with one hand and all 4 bags with the other. I am sure I was quite a site! Honestly I am a little shocked that from baggage claim clear up until we got our rental car not a single person offered to help me, even the bus driver to the rental car place. Today I give myself the supermom trophy! A little conceited? Yes, but whatever.

Finally we were on the road to our loading for the next 3 weeks. We are all settled. We even had time to stop at the grocery store to pick up some essentials to help us through the week. Lucky for us, we have a place with a mini kitchen so we can actually do a little cooking in our room. Having a refrigerator is really nice too.
It’s 8pm, I am in bed typing this and little K is passed out next to me. He seriously is the best traveling buddy ever, never once complained today. I am exhausted and think I will join K and catch some much needed zzz’s. Tomorrow the real work begins!!!
Great job! You are a super mom! This is not for everyone, give your self some credit, you are doing a great thing for Kyle. All leads to more opportunities for Kyle! Determination is something he gets from watching you everyday!

That is so crazy, that no one offered to help. Traveling with all that is physically exhausting, I’m sure! Get some rest supermom!! Miss you!

You absolutely do deserve an award for juggling all that! And I had a similar experience when I flew with all three kids solo. No one offered to help but plenty of people had “oh you’ve got your hands full” comments. 🙄 You are a strong mama on so many fronts!!
